Upon completion of the program requirements, Academy staff provides intensive job search assistance and follow-up for each graduate. The AHST is a program of Marrakech, Inc., a nonprofit organization headquartered in Woodbridge, Connecticut, that has been providing a wide range of human services to children & adults throughout Connecticut for the past 35 years, which commits to providing half of all Academy graduates with jobs at a Marrakech location.
“Graduation is just the first step for these individuals who are about to embark on a brand new path in their lives,” said Frank McCarthy, Executive Director, Marrakech, Inc., and AHST Commencement Speaker. “ Those who go through the training program come from every walk of life, many of whom have dealt with great adversity and personal struggles. Yet, through dedication and perseverance, each graduate will soon discover that by changing their life in a positive way will not only impact themselves, but also the people they will serve.”

Construction Begins on New $20 Million Barracks Facility at Fork Union Military Academy
Construction Begins on New Million Barracks Facility at Fork Union Military Academy
Fork Union, VA (Vocus) October 26, 2010
Fork Union Military Academy has broken ground on a new million barracks construction project to provide housing for boarding school students in the years ahead. Jacobson Hall will be the single largest construction project ever undertaken on the ground of Fork Union Military Academy, and certainly one of the largest to begin in recent months in the central Virginia region. The construction project will provide outstanding facilities for the Academy’s cadets in the long term, and immediate jobs and growth for the region’s economy in the short term.
Representatives from the Commonwealth of Virginia Governor’s Office, the United States Senate, as well as officials from local and state government offices were in attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony held Friday, October 22, 2010. Several hundred friends and supporters were in the audience as the first symbolic spadefuls of dirt were turned.
Participating in the ceremony were Jerry and Laura Jacobson, the parents of two sons currently in the school’s Cadet Corps, whose gift of just over million in cash helped make the start of construction possible. The building will be named Jacobson Hall in their honor.
In these tough economic times, the start of such a sizable project is a testament to the generous support provided by the Academy’s parents, alumni, friends, and benefactors. The million construction project is funded entirely from financial contributions and the school is incurring no debt in building this new facility. Over million in contributions toward this building has already been collected, and the Academy is optimistic that the remainder of the funds needed will be raised before construction is completed in the next 18 months.

FDM Academy Scam Guide Announcement: Check Training Provider Accreditations
FDM Academy Scam Guide Announcement: Check Training Provider Accreditations
(PRWeb UK) October 25, 2010
FDM Group is one of the United Kingdom’s largest IT graduate employers, and is responsible for launching the careers of information technology enthusiasts worldwide. With the recent global economic crisis, many students have been graduating with no incoming employment opportunities and have more debt than income. In addition, many training institutions are not credible and are considered scams, as they take students money without offering to help find employment opportunities upon graduation.
The FDM Academy has recently released an article on their website which aims to educate people on choosing a reputable training institution while avoiding scams. According to the FDM Academy, all of the potential training institutions should be interviewed before selecting and investing in one.
When interviewing an education group or training institution, one of the most important points to find out is who the institution is accredited by. If the answer is them, then it is likely that they are not a reputable company. The training institution should be accredited by well known external associations or institutes. For instance, FDM is accredited by the Institute of IT Training (IITT), and their trainees are also offered the opportunity to gain certifications from Microsoft, VMware, Prince2, Sun Systems and ISTQB. Reputable external certification opportunities should be available at any training institute, and any company which claims to have the best and most reputable internal certifications should be very well known (I.E. Microsoft, etc.).
With proper certification and education from an accredited school or training programme, graduates will have a good foundation for finding a career in their field of interest. In addition, scams can be avoided by properly interviewing prospective schools and inquiring about accreditations.
