Five Reasons to Move to Eugene Oregon

Five Reasons to Move to Eugene Oregon

1) Recreation & Education: Eugene, also known as the Emerald City, is the second largest city in Oregon and it is popular for its natural beauty, recreational opportunities such as kayaking, rafting and bicycling, alternative lifestyles, arts, and political activism. The city was founded by Eugene Franklin Skinner in 1862 and only 10 years later the Legislative Assembly approved a bill establishing the University of Oregon. The University opened its doors in 1876 and has helped the city grow from its roots in timber and agriculture to the thriving city we know today.

2) Climate & Population: The climate in Eugene has similarities to a Mediterranean climate, making Eugene, Oregon, an attractive place to live with its mild winters and dry summers. Snowfall during winter is relatively rare and tends to melt quickly. The average annual temperature is 52.1 degrees Fahrenheit or 11.2 degrees Centigrade. Combined with the low population density of approximately 3,400 people per square mile it makes for a very comfortable place to live.

3) Job Market: Eugene has a diverse job market; the biggest employers in the city are the Sacred Heart Medical Center and the University of Oregon, and Eugene made Fortune Small Business magazine’s 2008 list of 100 best places to live and launch a small business in the United States. Other major industries include the manufacture of recreational vehicles, timber and other wood products. Many multinational corporations also had their beginnings in Eugene and these include Taco Time, Broderbund Software, Aldus Software and Nike.

4) Culture, Music, & Performing Arts: Cultural and musical events contribute to the lure of Eugene, Oregon as a destination, with major festivities such as:

* The Eugene Celebration – an annual party that covers three blocks in the downtown area.

* Oregon Festival of American Music – an eclectic two week summer festival put on by The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts.

* Oregon Bach Festival- grammy winning music hosted by the University of Oregon.

Music lovers will also be drawn by the multitude of music organizations such as the Eugene Concert Choir, the Eugene Opera, the Eugene Ballet, the Northwest Christian University Community Choir, the Eugene Symphony, the Ballet Fantastique, the Eugene Youth Symphony, the Oregon Children’s Choir, and the Oregon Mozart Players. And for the performing arts, there are several large venues, such as the Erb Memorial Union ballroom, the Beall Concert Hall, the John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts, and the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.

5) Real Estate: The Eugene, Oregon real estate market appears to be relatively stable compared to other cities and states. Home prices have indeed declined from 2008 to 2009 but only by 15 to 20 percent. The highest number of sales are found in the under 0,000 segment and prices appear to be stabilizing going into the year 2010. Contibuting factors to support the stability of the market include affordability, with median prices now under 0,000 and low mortgage rates plus the recently extended government tax credits. There are only a few months left to take advantage of government tax credits that expire on July 1, 2010.

Roofer in Bend Oregon Crushes the Local Roofing Competition

Roofer in Bend Oregon Crushes the Local Roofing Competition

A roofer in Bend Oregon is crushing his competition by using the Internet to capture his prospects attention. The roofer uses short videos to answer popular roofing problems people have in Bend.

Because Bend Oregon has extreme weather conditions, roofing needs are greater than in most other communities. Roofers are busy with work all year long.

This particular roofer found out that 82% of all US citizens are on the Internet, and spending more time online than they are watching TV or

reading newspapers & magazines. He concluded, Why advertise in traditional media when most people are on the Internet?

So he went to work putting together a marketing campaign with a local Internet Marketing company. Together, they put together short videos for local prospects who are either looking for a roofer, or tips on how to fix their roofing problems.

When local prospects in Bend, Oregon look online for help, they will often find the roofers videos on how to fix a roof, how to lay felt paper, which roofing tile is best, what shingles to buy, or a number of other roofing tips.

Some roofing jobs are just too big or too complex for most people to do themselves. What ends up happening is most of the roofers prospects end up hiring him to do the job.

They have immediately gained confidence in his knowledge, his workmanship, and appreciate the free advice the roofer has given them. The videos also give the roofer the ability to gain rapport with his prospects, since they have an opportunity to know, like, and trust him.

The roofer concludes, What better way to earn your prospects trust, than to give them genuine help, something they need. Whether they use me now, or have a need later, they will always remember who gave them help with their roofing needs, without asking for something in return.

At first, the roofer was overwhelmed with all the technical challenges of taking videos, converting them into the right files necessary to be viewed on the Internet, along with all the other issues involved with the project.

The roofer was able to find a local Video Marketing company who took on the project for him. It turned out to be the most valuable marketing service the roofer could ever consider undertaking in Bend, Oregon.

Now, whenever someone in Bend looks for help by using Google, Yahoo, Bing, or any one of the other popular search engines to find a roofer, or help with their roofing needs, they will usually find the roofers videos on the front page. Of course, certain keywords must bring up his roofing videos.

But that is where the roofers video marketing consultant comes in. Together, they agree on the most likely words that prospects in the local Bend, Oregon market would be using to search for a roofer, a roofing company, or a contractor.

And even if the roofer in Bend doesn’t know which search terms his prospects would use, his video marketing consultant knows just where to go to find the most likely words that would be used by the local Bend market, who are searching for help from a local roofer, contractor, or roofing company.

The roofers competition is scratching their heads, wondering just how the roofer is able to dominate the front page of Google with so many keywords. Unfortunate for them, the local video marketing consultant only works with one company in each category in the local Bend, Oregon market.

Lucky for the roofer, he found the consultant before any other roofer in Bend was able to. The roofer is so busy, he has had to hire new employees to help with all the jobs he is landing from all the responses to his videos on The Best Roofer in Bend, Oregon.

Mark Gilbert is a video marketing consultant who helps businesses dominate their local market. You can find him at http://u2project.com. You can also get a free report on how to find the Best Roofer in Bend Oregon at http://bend-roofing.com.

How Moms Re-entering the Work Force Can Find the Job of Their Dreams

How Moms Re-entering the Work Force Can Find the Job of Their Dreams

If you are one of the many women in the U.S. thinking about returning to the workforce after taking time out to start a family, you might feel a bit lost.

Technology has changed, your field may have shifted, and your priorities may be different now that you have little ones at home. The corporate job that excited you before having kids, for example, might appear too demanding.

How do you sort it all out? Many women are working on it. It used to be once you were a stay-at-home-mom you would likely always be one. But more and more modern moms choose to return to work after taking time off to have children. The path from mommy hood back to work is different for every woman and can sometime be hard to navigate.

The good news is you don’t have to do it all at once. Returning to the workforce can be broken into small, manageable steps. Just because you’ve decided to go back to work doesn’t mean it needs to happen tomorrow. Break the process down and get started!

Research — What type of work are you interested in? Do you want to go back to your old job? If so, are there any skills you need to brush up on before going back? If you want to do something drastically different, what is it? If you used to work for a bank, but now you want to start a dog daycare, for example, take a close look at how the work will affect your day-to-day life. Evaluate what kind of a lifestyle this new work would offer and how much you could expect to make.

Find a mentor — Nothing can help prepare you for returning to work like an enthusiastic mentor. They’ve already had success in the job you’re looking into and can warn you of the pitfalls as well as encourage you.

Test It Out — Consider taking the time to test-drive your dream job. Spending a few days with a mentor, observing their work, will teach you volumes about whether this is the right path for you. Listen to your gut. If actually doing the work makes you realize it wouldn’t be a practical job with young kids at home, better to know that now then after leaping into the career in real life. Ask yourself, what did I love about this job? What did I not like? What surprised me the most? Could I do this job day in, day out?

Create an action plan — Now that you know what you need to do, set out incremental steps you need to take. Should you go back to school or get certified in a field? If you are starting your own business, do you need to get a loan or find space to rent? Establish a network of supporters, including your mentor, and rely on them for encouragement.

Involve your family — Going back to work will be a big change for your spouse and your children. Be sure they feel included in this process and let them know their support is important to you. If your spouse or kids have reservations about you returning to work, talk through the fears and try to address them specifically. If your children are afraid they won’t have any quality time with you, for example, agree on a sacred time like bedtime or Saturday mornings that you’ll always be available to them.

Returning to work after spending years raising children holds many unknowns. Are you ready to return to work? What kind of work will be the right fit for raising kids? How will the family react? These questions and more can be answered with good research, the guidance of a good mentor and the real-life experience of test-driving your dream job.

Colombia Free Trade Agreement

Congresswoman Hooley is the only Democratic House Member from the State of Oregon who has failed to oppose the Colombia Free Trade Agreement. Congressmen Peter DeFazio, David Wu and Earl Blumenauer all oppose it. Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both oppose it. Senate candidates Jeff Merkley and Steve Novick both oppose it. Why would Congresswoman Hooley stand alone with the Bush administration in support of such a heinous policy? The Bush administration and corporate lobbyists continue pushing Congress to pass the Colombia Free Trade Agreement — a NAFTA-style trade deal that ignores Colombia’s atrocious human rights record and that will undoubtedly cost Oregon jobs. Despite successfully blocking it from being forced to a vote under “Fast Track,” there is increasingly talk of a deal that could allow it to reach the floor this year. Opposing the Colombia trade agreement should be a no brainer, but Congresswoman Hooley remains “undecided.” Is Rep. Hooley really indifferent towards death squads? Trade cannot be “free” when workers are denied their basic freedoms of speech and assembly. Corporate-funded death squads roam the streets of Colombia, forcing millions to accept the country’s sweatshop working conditions. Since 1991, over 2300 Colombian labor advocates have been murdered, and the rate of impunity for the murder of trade unionists remains over 97%. Is Rep. Hooley really indifferent towards local job loss? Approximately 70000 Oregon jobs have

Paint Your Career With a Green Job

Paint Your Career With a Green Job

Solar living“, “green” houses, “smart” appliances, “going green” – these aren’t just “the day’s” catchwords; these are all phrases used to describe a way of life.  In the past decade or so however, they’ve also come to describe a way of working.

If you’re new in the field and looking for a career, or if you have a career but you’d like to increase your knowledge and skills base, you’re in luck.  Your position doesn’t have to be high technology, like a PV Project Engineer.  Thanks to the new federal incentives for solar energy, more than 440,000 jobs for installation and manufacturing will be opening up within the solar industry.

Even without the federal incentives, the need for people with solar training grows each year.  Environmental groups argue against carbon pollution; homeowners looking for lower energy costs pay roofers with solar training to replace their old asphalt tiles with solar panels and PV arrays; companies and individuals who use solar energy receive tax credits.  As the demand for products from the solar industry rise, so does the need for those who can develop, manufacture and install those products.

This remains true even through the current economic crisis; having a green job ensures job security in a shaky economic climate.  Billions of dollars are being spent on solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing, installation and maintenance, green building and any number of energy efficient and sustainable energy methods.  According to Greenpeace and the Worldwatch Institute, green jobs may be one of the keys to economic stabilization.

People in the construction industry, such as general contractors, are some of those that could take advantage of solar courses and certification.  Most solar training for general contractors isn’t so much learning about new things, as learning a new way to do old things.  For instance, a trained general contractor will ensure that new buildings meet the high performance standards necessary to receive Green certification.

In addition, retrofitting old buildings to become energy efficient adds jobs for solar trained workers, engineers, electricians and others.  Retrofitting may actually turn into a more lucrative position than building, as there are more non-compliant buildings than there are Green certified buildings.

The lack of workers with solar training isn’t confined to one area:

Connecticut just created a million fund for investments in starting companies focused on clean technology jobs.
Hawaii plans to stop using fossil fuels within the next ten years, moving to renewable, sustainable energy.  An agreement to allow customers with solar panels to sell power back to the Hawaiian Electric Company was signed in November of this year, though not brought into law.
In Oregon, over 1,700 solar jobs are either available or opening since Gov. Ted Kulongoski began luring renewable energy jobs to the state.

Everywhere across America and the globe, solar jobs are opening up and people with solar education are needed.  If you don’t have a field yet, or would like to expand your field, look into solar training.  The opportunities are endless!

Oregon State Beavers Tickets – Strategy and Assembling Required!

Oregon State Beavers Tickets – Strategy and Assembling Required!

Strategy is indeed a critical dimension of any NFL game. Trust you would not find any lack of it with the Oregon State Beavers.

For starters, the Oregon State Beavers would really have been the first of some teams to have got the ignominy of being called a pass-first offense team. For most of the season, the Beavers played with the same set combination, which quite did not give them any perceptible success. Of course, it was the time for a change. It came, and how did it impact the fortunes of Beavers!

The first aspect of the Beavers? strategic planning was to have additional H-Backs. This will increase the possibility of Beavers scoring more touchdowns. Early days yet, but the Beavers have already scored two touchdowns from short yard plays. Brady Camp and Joe Halahuni, two senior receivers scored the touchdowns. It may not be a good enough testimony to prove that this strategy is a hit, for which the wait continues until the next season.

What about the kicker Justin Kahut? He seems to be a player with exceptional talent, but his consistency needs some dressing down. Even in the game against the Oregon, he missed a kick from the 21-meter margin. The score line was reading 7-17 against the Beavers. A score there would surely have motivated the Beavers to move ahead. Justin did his bit of good turn in earlier games, but how long can he go on with this kind of inconsistency? Importantly, does he have the belief of his teammates? These are questions that need immediate and serious addressing.

December seems to be an off month for the Beavers what with not a lot of games scheduled for them. This should be best used by the management to assemble their best players after rest. This would mean Quizz Rodgers can come back from his shoulder injury. And the highly reputed Stephen Paea, who would possibly need some more time to recover from his injury! With these additions, surely the Beavers would be a bolstered unit.

Any free time on hands would mean the management gets time to recruit new talent. This is where the Beavers have made good headway. They have lined up 17 probabilities to join their team, and one look at them would be enough to say that the Beavers? recruitment coordinators have been doing their jobs well. This really is the time when possible gaps should be plugged, and looking at the efforts of Beavers, more than a step has been taken.

Had it been for better strategy and a good choice of players, Beavers could still have ended up higher than what they did last season. It must be said that what is gone has gone. Looking ahead, Beavers surely look in good shape to make an impact next season.

When you need tickets for the Oregon State Beavers you can count on Ticket America to get you the best seats at the best prices. If you need tickets Ticket America is the place to get them. To get Oregon State Beavers College Football tickets before anyone else visit our website today!

The House of Representatives today passed 3 million in permanent tax increases that House Republicans say will threaten Oregon jobs and prolong the states economic recovery. The Democrats income (HB 2649) and corporate (HB 3405) tax increases will be exceptionally harmful to the states small businesses. In this clip, Rep. Hanna addresses how HB 3405 will kill jobs and push more Oregon businesses to the brink. He said the Legislature will continue to struggle balancing the budget until we have more successful businesses and employed Oregonians.
