2010 Nebraska Football Predictions

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are ready for a big 2010 season after going 10-4 in 2009. The Cornhuskers have 15 starters back from a team that nearly beat Texas in the Big 12 Championship game and destroyed Arizona in the Holiday Bowl. The Cornhuskers are not only thinking of repeating as Big 12 South Champs, this team wants another shot at the winning the Big 12 title game and going to a BCS bowl game. Here is a look at what the Cornhuskers will bring to the table on both sides of the ball in 2010, plus my prediction on where they finish the year in the Big 12. 

Offense: The Cornhuskers bring back all but two starters on this side of the ball, but there is some concern at the quarterback position. 2009 starter Zac Lee needed offseason elbow surgery that forced him to miss spring practice. Expect some competition for the starting job from sophomore Cody Green this fall. 

At running back the Cornhuskers welcome back senior Roy Helu, who rushed for a team best 1,147 yards and 10 touchdowns. They also bring back sophomore Rex Burkhead, who ran for 346 yards and 3 scores as a true freshman. 

The Cornhuskers bring back their top three threats at the receiver position, led by seniors Niles Paul and Mike McNeill. The team is hoping to get more production out of junior Brandon Kinnie, who is expected to get a lot more looks this season. 

What really has to have Cornhusker’s fans excited is the talent this team has coming back on the offensive line. Senior guards Keith Williams and Marcel Jones are two of the best in the Big 12, and as a whole this group figures to be the best head coach Bo Pelini has had. 

Defense: The Cornhuskers lose one of the best defensive players in all of college football last year in defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, but they also bring back one of the best the country has to offer in junior Jared Crick, who will team up with sophomore Baker Steinkuhler to form another devastating tandem in the middle. They also bring back senior defensive end Pierre Allen, who was third on the team with five sacks last season. 

At linebacker the Cornhuskers bring back senior Eric Hagg, who the coaches believe is ready to have a big season. The key will be the improvements made by sophomores Will Compton and Sean Fisher at this position. 

In the secondary the Cornhuskers look to be very good, especially considering the fact that they have one of the top corners in the country in senior Prince Amukamara. Junior Alfonzo Dennard is back to man the other corner position, but the Cornhuskers will have to replace both starters at safety. It looks as though sophomore PJ Smith and senior DeJon Gomes will be the starters on opening day. 

Prediction – 1st Big 12 North: I think the Cornhuskers have the clear advantage in the North with a home game against Missouri. They also get Texas at home and avoid having to play Oklahoma in the regular season. This team definitely has the talent to win the Big 12 Championship if they get back there in 2010.

1. The patient will be kept up on a maintenance medication through the treatment center in which the detoxification was carried out. Most forms of addiction treatment have medications that help people control their urges for the substance. These medications are supposed to be taken for a long period of time even after the main inpatient treatment is over, because if they are stopped abruptly, they can cause withdrawals of their own. A good example here is methadone that is used in the treatment of heroin addiction in Nebraska. Hence, it is important to continue the medication for several weeks after the detox is completed to ensure that the person does have an immediate urge for the substance.

2. 4. The patient is taught techniques such as Yoga, massage, relaxation and breathing exercises and such others. These help the patient to keep away from the substance and fight temptations.

5. They are trained on becoming socially active once again and take up hobbies and other such ways to keep meaningfully distracted. They may also be counseled on how they can take up a job.

6. The families of the patients are counseled on how they can cope with the condition and help the patient in their relapse prevention program.
