College Football – Michigan State Crushes Montana State, Both Sophomore Quarterbacks Look Good

College Football – Michigan State Crushes Montana State, Both Sophomore Quarterbacks Look Good

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio’s job became harder Saturday after his Spartans polished off 1-AA Montana State, 44-3, but it also became sweeter.

It became harder because 1-AA Montana State is a far cry from the opponents the Spartans will face as they work their way through Big Ten competition in the weeks ahead. Playing a 1-AA team was a big deal for the Spartans because it was the first time in school history they had faced such an unevenly matched team.

Dantonio’s job became sweeter because his two sophomore quarterbacks—Kirk Cousins and Keith Nichol—both looked good in their bid to become the starting QB to replace Brian Hoyer, now a backup QB for the NFL’s New England Patriots. When watching Hoyer play last year, he was inconsistent, but he was also apparently good enough to try competing at the next level.

Michigan State had a huge question mark in who would replace Hoyer. Both Cousins, who goes 6-3 and 202, and Nichol, who goes 6-2 and 215, split time under center and looked good.

Cousins went 10-for-17 for 183 yards, and had 3 touchdown passes—a 29-yarder to sophomore B. J. Cunningham, a 15-yarder to senior Blair White, and another 24-yarder to White.

Nichol went 9-for-18 for 135 yards, and had 2 touchdown passes—a 26-yarder to freshman tight end Dion Sims, and a 3-yarder to sophomore tight end Brian Linthicum. Sims goes 6-5 and 268; Linthicum goes 6-5 and 245.

Michigan State’s passing game looks both young and effective at the moment. The question now is: can they do it against much better competition in the heat of Big Ten play?

Another big question mark is who would replace Spartan All-American running back Javon Ringer. Ringer, who was drafted by the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, ran 390 times as a senior, gaining 1,637 yards and scoring 22 rushing touchdowns. He led the nation in carries, touchdowns and scoring, and was 4th in rushing yards. Ringer accounted for 97% of Michigan State’s rushing yardage last year.

Against Montana State, redshirt freshman Caulton Ray had 12 carries for 71 yards (5.9 yards per carry), freshman Larry Caper added 34 yards on 7 carries (4.8 ypc), and freshman Edwin Baker added another 27 yards on 8 carries (3.3 ypc).

Senior Blair White had impressive numbers with 9 receptions for 162 yards and 2 TDs.

The Spartans led 28-0 at the half, and rolled up 493 offensive yards to 160 for Montana State. Michigan State’s star linebacker, junior Greg Jones, had 14 tackles; he is arguably he best linebacker in the Big Ten.

The game was Michigan State’s home opener. Montana State will receive at least 0,000 for traveling to East Lansing for an almost certain first-game loss, but the payday will be enough to pay nearly a third of Montana State’s annual football budget. The Spartans host Central Michigan at home Saturday.

Fictional Teen Cancer Struggle Places 1st in Writing Competition

Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) August 16, 2006

Maurene J. Hinds, of Bozeman, Montana placed first in the young adult category in the SmartWriters.com annual W.I.N. (Write It Now!) contest for children’s writers with an excerpt from her novel manuscript, Bruised. The story focuses on a teen with a terminal illness who must face life-or-death decisions at a young age.

Hinds began work on the manuscript during her Master of Fine Arts program. In between several nonfiction book projects and two children, she continued working on the story until it was ready for submission to this type of contest. The contest includes multiple children’s literature categories, including young adult, middle grade, chapter and picture books, nonfiction, and poetry. Young adult category judge Alex Finn wrote of the decision, “Bruised was the eventual winner because both the summary and the first chapter were equally excellent.” Hinds is currently working on final edits of the manuscript and will be submitting it to agents and publishers soon. The full list of winners is posted at the SmartWriters website at http://www.smartwriters.com/index.2ts?page=2006winners.

Hinds received her undergraduate degree in English from Montana State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Teens from Vermont College. She is the author of several nonfiction books for young readers for Enslow Publishers, as well as The Ferguson Guide to Resumes and Job Hunting Skills with Ferguson Publishing. She is a member of The Lieurance Group, a freelance writers’ and graphic designers’ cooperative (http://www.lieurancegroup.blogspot.com/). How To Land A Job In Hollywood Without An Agent (part 2)

How To Land A Job In Hollywood Without An Agent (part 2)

One of the best parts about my job is hearing success stories from aspiring actors, singers, dancers and models whose hard work is paying off in the industry. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t hear or read about someone who’s finally getting a chance to go out on an audition, or someone who’s booked really huge role.

If you read yesterday’s blog, then you read all about Melina Rochelle and her new role in City Kid, the musical. Melina Rochelle is a singer and an actress and although she doesn’t have an agent, she’s been working hard and landing great opportunities in Hollywood. Yesterday she offered some really great tips that have helped her succeed in the industry. Here are a few more tips she had to share:

“Always be prepared. If you’re a singer or an actor, always have a song or monologue that you can perform upon request. If you’re a dancer, have something prepared that showcases what you do best. If you’re a model, always have photos or composite cards on hand at all times.” “Don’t wait around for someone to discover your talents. Showcase yourself. Whether it’s through your own production or talent showcase, get yourself out there. My sisters and I started our own production company and produced a musical that was reviewed in the LA Weekly and nominated for several awards.” “And last but not least, be sure to use the internet to your advantage. You can find really great information and opportunities on the web to help you further your career.”

Those are really great tips and I hope you find them to be useful. I also hope you’ll visit our

site

for

auditions

and

casting notices

and keep me posted on your

achievements

in the industry. Just this past week over 7.000

members

on our site were contacted by

casting directors

and other industry professionals. You can get the same results!

I hope you’ll read my blog tomorrow when I share information about turning a new role into representation! Thanks for stopping by!

My name is Jonathan Parker and I’m the Founder of Star Search Casting ( http://StarSearchCasting.com ). Back in 1998, after working in the entertainment industry for a number of years as a talent scout, I became aware of so many individuals with tremendous potential that just weren’t getting the exposure they needed to succeed. That’s when I first conceived of Star Search Casting as a way to help people be “discovered” by getting their faces and resumes in front of thousands of entertainment professionals who were in the position to hire them. Years in development, Star Search Casting became not only the most sophisticated casting site with the most advanced search engine, talent database, and tools to help you get maximum exposure, it also became the number one site where industry professionals go to find new talent!! I can’t tell you how absolutely thrilled I am that SSC has achieved the goal I had in mind when it was originally created!

How To Land A Job Without An Agent (part 1)

How To Land A Job Without An Agent (part 1)

Thousands of members on our site have booked exciting jobs in Hollywood without an agent. Often aspiring actors, models, singers and dancers think they don’t have a shot at making their dreams come true because they don’t have an agent. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. There are tons of opportunities available to you, even if you don’t have representation. Don’t let lack of an agent or manager stand in your way.

Melina Rochelle, a singer and actress living in Los Angeles, knows all about the challenges of looking for work without an agent. “I was worried that because I didn’t have an agent, I wouldn’t be able to audition for roles that I really wanted. Initially I was discouraged but I didn’t let it stop me.” Instead, she began doing her own research and was able to find lots of opportunities. And in no time she was landing great jobs.

This fall she will appear in the musical City Kid at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles in the role of Niki. “I’m so excited! It’s a great role and I get to showcase my singing and my acting in a really great show.” When asked how she’s managed to get such great opportunities without an agent or manager, Melina Rochelle offered this advice:

“Just because you don’t have an agent doesn’t mean you can’t submit yourself. Do your research. There are lots of resources that list opportunities that you can submit yourself for without the assistance of representation.” “Make and keep in touch with contacts in the business. It’s a lot about who you know. There are lots of ways to meet people, for example taking classes to meet other actors, singers, dancers or models.”

Follow these tips from Melina Rochelle to help you get your career off the ground today!

Eight Tips for Getting Started in Real Estate Investing

Introduction Broker Price Opinions Jobs

This article is just the basics for getting started in real estate investing. This is not a how to article but an article that gives you some information about things to do to get started. Everything in this article is tools that can be applied to helping anyone get started in real estate investing. I am going to give you my eight keys to getting started. Nothing is right or wrong but reflects the point of view of the author. Laws and legal practices vary from state to state, and laws can change over time. The author does not vouch for the legality of his opinions, nor is there any intent to supply legal advice. The author strongly encourages the reader to consult with professionals and an attorney prior to entering in any real estate transaction or contract. The author is not a writer but he is a real estate investor. There will be grammar mistakes and errors, so don’t be too critical of the grammar but focus your energy on what is being said. With that said prepare yourself to think a little differently and expand your mind. Let’s get started on an amazing adventure.

The Eight Tips are as follows

1. Desire
2. Goal Setting
3. Learning What To Do
4. Attending a Real Estate Investing Seminar
5. The Billings Montana Market
6. Finding a Mentor
7. Your Real Estate Team
8. Just Do IT

1. Desire

Before we get in to the bolts and nails of real estate investing in I want to talk to you about desire. If you are going to be successful at anything in life including real estate investing you have to have the desire to do it. Desire is defined as longing or craving, as for something that brings satisfaction or enjoyment. Desire stresses the strength of feeling and often implies strong intention or aim. In real estate investing if you don’t have a desire to learn and grow as a human being and really get satisfaction out of it, then real estate investing is going to be hard to do. When I go out and look at a property it brings me a lot of enjoyment. Every aspect brings me joy from talking to home owners, figuring out how I can make a deal work, to buying the house and to finding a good homeowner or tenant for the house. Real estate investing may not be for everyone but real estate investing can offer anyone the financial freedom we all crave for. If you do not have the desire for real estate investing that is ok, it can still help you to live your dreams and help you to get where you want to go in the future.

Why is real estate investing an amazing avenue for anyone to live out all of their dreams? Let me ask you a few questions. Do you have enough money to do anything you want? Do you have everything you want? No debt? A nice house? Great Marriage? The freedom to do anything regardless of how much it costs and the time it takes? If you have all of these things then you are one of the few people in America who does. Most people may be working fifty hours a week and making just enough to pay their bills. In today’s day and age most people are living pay check to pay check never really knowing if they will make enough to pay the bills that just keep piling up. If you cannot keep up with your monthly bills how are you going to plan for retirement or send your kids to college or have time to enjoy life. The answer to all of these questions is becoming financially free. Now it’s not going to be easy everyone will have to get off the couch and out of their comfort zone. Real estate is proven to be one of the fastest ways to get your out of the rat race of the nine to five and begin living the life you deserve to live. Everyone wants something different out of their life. Some dream of traveling the world, spending more time with family, volunteering, golfing, laying on a beach, giving back to the community, or anything that will make them happy. There are thousands of things that make people happy.

Making it in real estate takes a person who has a strong desire to change their lives for the better and think big. Anyone can become a great real estate investor. It is going to take a lot of work and can be a struggle at times but in the end it will be the most amazing feeling ever. The people that make it in real estate investing all have a few things in common. First they run their real estate investing business like any other business out there. Second they get out there and network with anyone and everyone. Some people might be like me and have a hard time talking to other people. If you are that is ok, anyone can learn how to become a people person, it just takes hard daily work. You have to push yourself past your comfort zone. The third thing is that you cannot be afraid to fail. Everyone has failed at something but the most successful people out their learn from their failures. The fourth thing is that you have to put a good team together. I will go into putting a team together in a later chapter. The concept of putting a team together is so that when you don’t know something you have team members that know what to do and can help you with questions. The can also make sure that you are not working yourself to death. You do not want to be the person doing everything in your business. Doing everything is a receipt for failure. You have to put together good people who you can trust and rely on. The fifth thing is that you need a mentor. Sixth and final is the desire to do it. No one can become successful at something if they don’t want to do it and don’t get satisfaction out of what they are doing.

2. Setting Goals

Having goals is one of the most important aspects of achieving what you want in life. You don’t want to just have your goals up in your head you want to write them down and past what you have wrote on the wall somewhere or in the bathroom mirror. You want to review your goals daily and read them out loud to yourself. This way you remind yourself everyday why you are building your business.

How should you start to write down you goals? First off you should think big, and by big I mean HUGE. If your goals are too small you will easily achieve them and have nothing else to look forward too. You should start off by asking yourself the question if I had all the money and time in the world what would I do, what would I buy, how would I spend my time, and how would I spend my energy. Are you starting to write these down? Well you should be. Think about what you want, spending time with family, traveling the world, the best cars, a castle, owning a small country, running for president, having the biggest real estate investing business in your area or in the country. Whatever your dreams and what you want out of your life, write it down. Some of my goals are becoming free, traveling the world, having a Ferrari, having 10 vacation homes all over the world. Right now I am just trying to get you out of your comfort zone of thinking and let your imagination run. Broker Price Opinions Jobs

There are several ways to set goals. I have learned a lot of ways you can set you goals and there is no right or wrong way. The best ways that I have found to set your goals is to break them up into two categories. First your short term goals. This should be goals from a month out to around a year. The second is your long term goals these goals are you think big goals and what you see for your future.

For year one I like to first make a list of what I want to achieve this year and I will give you an example of how to do that. For year one you want to be very specific first you want to list what you want your income to be at the end of the year, next how much cash in the bank you want (this is money in your checking account, not assets). Next you want to list how much you are going to give. Giving is a very important, this can be giving to charity, giving of gifts to friends and family, giving to your school or anything you can dream of. As long as what you give brings joy to others who need it more than you. Next list what bad habits you have that you want to eliminate. Weather is be quitting smoking, spending too much on junk, drinking too much, working too much, not spending enough time with family, too much TV, not exercising and many more. We all have bad habits that need to be changed in order for use to grow as human beings. Under each of these bad habits list out some steps that you can take in order to quit them. If you bad habit is being lazy and not exercising enough what can you do to change that. Well you can get a gym membership or a home work out program. Commit yourself you following through with a plan to work out 3-5 days a week. For you to change these bad habits you have to be totally committed and follow through with a detailed plan you set for yourself. After you have your plans in place you should start listing several things you want to achieve or do in the next year. This can be start a successful business, spend time with family, travel to 2-5 places and so on. Now under each of these you should also write a detailed plan on what you need and what you need to do in order to achieve these goals. Finally you should take all of this information you have a write on page on what you see your life being over the next year. Doing this is a great exercise to really see what you want out of life.

Goals Year One

This is what I am going To Do This Year
Income: 0,000
Cash: 0,000
Give: ,000

Bad Habits that will be changes:

Over Sleeping 1. Go to bed at 11 p.m. 2. Use a timer and set it for 8 hours 3. Set the timer on the other side of the room

Buying things that you don’t need: 1. Going out shopping less 2. If you have the urge to buy something think to yourself is thing item going to help me to achieve my goals of becoming financially free? 3. Tell friends what you are doing, so they can help to stop you.

What I want to Achieve:

Start a successful Real Estate Investing Business: (you should write a detailed step by step plan of everything you need in order to achieve your goal)

Travel: Where do I want to visit? 1. Gators football game (what I need to do it, money, etc)

And last your own page about what you want to achieve using words like I will and only positive words.

For long term goals you don’t need to be as specific right now, but you should list them and under them list a few steps or smaller goals that need to be achieved before you are able to achieve them. With the long term goals always think big. Another good exercise for long term goals is to make a collage of you goals. Put pictures of the house you want on it, places you want to travel, a picture of your family, a number of what income you want in or anything you can think of. Broker Price Opinions Jobs

Treatments today are increasingly being tailored to the particular needs of various ethnic groups. Los Angeles has a large Asian population and responding to their particular aesthetic concerns has become important to many cosmetic practices here. One of the more common reasons that Asians come in, is because they are unhappy with their nose. Most do not want a Caucasian nose. They want to have a higher, better-defined bridge, but they do not want to go through surgery. Some just do not have the time to go through the healing process, some are afraid of the risks involved, some can’t afford the expense, and some are afraid of ending up with unnatural results.

Typically, the Asian nose has a lower, flatter and less defined nasal bridge than the Caucasian counterpart, with a rounder tip and wider spaced nostrils. Of course, there is wide variation among the different peoples of Asia and among different individuals. Also, standards of beauty differ. It is the job of the cosmetic specialist to understand the aesthetic result that the patient is looking for and to communicate the medically feasible possibilities. The patient then decides what should be done and the practitioner delivers the procedure with maximal precision and minimal risk.

The traditional mindset is that an operation is the only way to correct cosmetic nasal irregularities, even the most minor bumps or asymmetries. Over the last five years, that concept has been shown to be no longer true. Injectable fillers have been used for the last five years (I prefer Radiesse – a calcium based temporary filler that lasts about 10 to 12 months and holds its shape very well) to raise the nasal bridge and make the tip higher and less round. This procedure has been called the Non Surgical Nose Job or Non Surgical Rhinoplasty.

Non-surgical cosmetic improvement of the nose only became possible recently as new fillers became approved by the FDA. Radiesse and its cousins Juvederm and Restylane are safe, natural looking and relatively long lasting. Over the last five years, as injectable fillers have been used as an effective alternative to rhinoplasty, the Non-Surgical Nose Job has demonstrated itself to be a procedure that is safe and effective with significantly less discomfort and risk than traditional rhinoplasty.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is a relatively painless procedure that requires minimal downtime and post-procedure care. Many patients resume normal activities immediately after their injections, returning to work or a busy social calendar on the same day as the appointment. Slight bruising or swelling may occur at the site of injection, however the severity of the inflammation pales in comparison to the aftermath of traditional rhinoplasty. If discoloration or tenderness does occur, it usually disappears within a few days. The procedure is usually performed in a couple of sessions so that the changes are gradual. There is never a sudden transformation – no “Aha! You had your nose done!” moments.

Topical anesthesia is adequate for pain control, and icing the nasal area just before injection reduces the chances of bruising. Patients should take Arnica Montana orally after their injection – it works well for reducing any swelling or bruising that may follow. Patients can use Tylenol, but should not use non-steroidal anti inflammatory medications (Advil, Alleve, etc) for 3 days or wear sunglasses for 2 weeks after the procedure. No other limitations are required. The Non-Surgical Nose Job usually takes between 10-15 minutes to perform. Patients are usually in the office for about an hour, however, when we figure in the time needed for topical numbing cream.

This procedure is certainly no replacement for surgery. It cannot reduce the size of a nose, but most of my Asian clientele don’t need reduction. They want to preserve the ethnic appearance of their nose, but are looking for more symmetry in their facial features. Some have said that they would like to have their glasses resting on their nasal bridge as opposed to their cheeks.

Job Duties Of A Sales Associate

As with any medical procedure, selecting the right physician to perform the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure is critical. Injecting filler into the nose must be done with care and a thorough understanding of both nasal anatomy and the properties of the filler being used. A patient contemplating this procedure should make sure his or her physician has had specific training and experience in cosmetic injection techniques, especially if the doctor is not a formally trained aesthetic surgeon. Precise knowledge about the injection spots, depth, and amount of filler needed is very important for the success of the procedure.

Changing one’s appearance is becoming more accepted as the procedures are becoming cheaper, safer and easier. Media coverage of plastic surgery is also making the people who get these procedures seem less stigmatized and more mainstream. The patient must still exercise extreme care in choosing the right practitioner, but it is heartening to see innovative procedures emerge from new technology. For my Asian clientele, Non Surgical Rhinoplasty represents an alternative to surgery that is safer, easier, cheaper and sometimes more effective. It is a natural looking way to achieve the desired changes without “whitewashing” the client’s ethnic appearance.

Alexander Rivkin M.D. is a Yale trained facial cosmetic surgeon and UCLA faculty member who has focused his practice exclusively on providing his patients with the latest in non-invasive, non-ablative cosmetic treatments. Dr. Rivkin is an international authority on non surgical cosmetic treatments. He divides his time between patient care, clinical research, educating other physicians, media appearances, and lecturing at scientific conferences throughout the world. Dr. Rivkin has made his name in developing non-surgical alternatives to commonly performed cosmetic procedures. He has been featured on the shows like the TODAY show, the Tyra Banks Show and EXTRA as well as in numerous national publications for the innovative procedures he has invented. He was the first physician in the country to offer the Non-Surgical Nose Job, his signature method for non-invasive correction of cosmetic nasal irregularities.

BountyJobs Launches Technology to Predict Headhunter Success

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 7, 2010

BountyJobs, the online recruiting marketplace where employers engage top headhunters to fill jobs, announced today the release of BountyConnect technology. BountyConnect, which combines a software algorithm with data collected from the world’s largest recruiting marketplace, analyzes a job posted by an employer on the BountyJobs marketplace, then predicts which of over 10,000 of the nation’s best third-party search firms are most likely to successfully fill it.

“BountyConnect technology applies one of the Internet’s newest innovations to one of contingency recruiting’s most persistent headaches,” said BountyJobs CEO, Mike Hard. Hard, who spent 17 years with Microsoft before taking the helm of BountyJobs in 2009, continued, “When employers use objective third-party data to choose which firms to engage on their search, rather than headhunter marketing or cold calls, they get more qualified candidates and faster fills.”

After employers post a job to BountyJobs, BountyConnect scours the company’s marketplace of more than 10,000 headhunters and identifies those that are most qualified and most successful in filling similar openings. Underlying the technology are massive amounts of data gathered since the BountyJobs marketplace was launched in 2006. In over three years of connecting employers with headhunters, BountyJobs has analyzed almost billion in jobs that have passed through the marketplace and close to 150,000 unique search firm engagements. When applied intelligently through the BountyConnect algorithm to jobs posted on the marketplace, these data produce a remarkably targeted list of qualified third-party search firms for an employer to engage on their search. The result is transparent, fast and effective.

“So many of the headhunters that contact us are clearly fake but it’s easy to tell through BountyJobs if someone is going to bring you a good candidate or a bad one,” said Joe Schmier, VP of Employee Services for Northern Montana Hospital, who has been using BountyJobs to hire physicians to this hospital located 43 miles south of the Canadian border in north central Montana. “We piloted BountyJobs by posting a physician job on the site, and within a couple of days had recruiters that specialized in physicians contacting me. It was so much more effective than what I was used to and we’ve used BountyJobs ever since.”

About BountyJobs

Headquartered in New York City, BountyJobs is the global recruiting marketplace where employers engage top headhunters to fill any job, anywhere. With over 10,000 active headhunters, a third of the Fortune 500 as customers and hundreds of millions in bounties across six continents, BountyJobs is the most effective recruitment marketplace in the world.
