Conklin Fangman Kansas City, a Cadillac Buick GMC Dealership in Kansas City, Reopens in Downtown
Conklin Fangman Kansas City, a Cadillac Buick GMC Dealership in Kansas City, Reopens in Downtown
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) October 28, 2010
After closing its doors in June 2009, Conklin Fangman Kansas City, a General Motors dealer in Kansas City, Missouri, will reopen at the same location on Monday, November 1, 2010. The dealership features Cadillac, Buick and GMC vehicles along with a large inventory of used cars, trucks and SUVs. The dealership can be found online at: http://www.conklinfangman.com.
With the reopening, General Motors gave Conklin Fangman a special allocation of their most popular and harder-to-find vehicles: Cadillac SRX and Cadillac CTS models, GMC Terrains, and GMC 1500 and 2500 trucks. Plus the dealership received additional Cadillac Escalades, Buick LaCrosses, Buick Enclaves, and GMC Acadias.
During the reorganization of General Motors, GM closed stores that were not located on the beltways in metro markets. Conklin Fangman appealed the decision based on the tremendous amount of revitalization and development work being done in the area known as the Main Street Corridor Project. “GM now views our store as an important part of their footprint for Kansas City,” said Scott Conklin, co-president of Conklin Fangman.”Our dealership was sales and service-effective because of our central location. The Main Street location is convenient for so many customers. With billions of dollars invested in the Main-Cor revitalization (downtown to the Country Club Plaza), 3200 Main is a valuable location for Cadillac Buick GMC, not typical in most metro markets.” Conklin credits projects such as the new Federal Reserve building, the Power & Light District, the Sprint Center, the WWI Liberty Memorial, Costco, Home Depot and the Nelson-Atkins Museum for creating jobs and drawing people into the area. And, with the reopening, Conklin Fangman is also creating jobs.
The closure of the dealership meant Conklin Fangman had to let go their 80-person staff. Now, with the reopening, they have started rehiring their management, sales and service department staff. And they will add positions as business continues to ramp up over the next several months. Conklin stated, “This is great news because we’ve been able to bring a lot of the sales and service team back. Our sales and service teams are fully GM certified so they not only know the vehicles, they know the customers as well. And adding more jobs in downtown Kansas City is a good thing for the community.”
The Service Center reopens on Wednesday, October 27 and is currently taking appointments at 816-398-8259. As the only New Car dealership in the downtown area, reopening the Service Center will add a convenient option for people who work in the downtown area. Conklin Fangman services GM vehicles, other domestic vehicles and import vehicles. In addition to offering comprehensive mechanical and body work, they also provide:
A free car wash with every service
A free shuttle to and from the customer’s workplace
Conklin Fangman provides the shuttle to their customers so repair work can be done during the workday without inconvenience.
Conklin remarked, “We’re excited to see our previous customers and look forward to winning new ones. We are thrilled to be back and look at it as a tremendous opportunity for the people who work with us and the whole community.”
About Conklin Cars
Scott Conklin is the co-president of Conklin Fangman Kansas City, with locations in Kansas City, Missouri as well as Hutchinson, Newton and Salina, Kansas. The reopening Conklin Fangman location is at 3200 Main Street, Kansas City, MO. As a Kansas City GM Dealer, Conklin Fangman has a large selection of Cadillacs, Buicks and GMCs. Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Warns Of Builders Chinese Drywall Fixes & Asks Why No Obama For US Homeowners Stuck In Chinese Drywall Hell
Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Warns Of Builders Chinese Drywall Fixes & Asks Why No Obama For US Homeowners Stuck In Chinese Drywall Hell
Washington, DC (Vocus) October 28, 2010
The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, “it’s an election year, and as usual, President Obama is on the campaign/agenda trail, this time trying to save his majorities in Congress–but why won’t the press highlight the failure of the Obama Administration or the Reid/ Pelosi Congress to help desperate US homeowners and their children in the absolute worst mess of their lives? Toxic Chinese drywall in new or remodeled US homes is worse than the BP mess.” The group says, “toxic imported Chinese drywall is the absolute worst environmental disaster for US homeowners in our nation’s history, we think there are a million-plus US citizens living in toxic Chinese drywall hell, and if this were President Bush, as opposed to President Obama, we think after 20+ months, the national press would be calling for a presidential resignation.” They say, “we are convinced long term exposure to toxic Chinese drywall is going to prematurely kill innocent US homeowners, and their children. Homebuilders did not start using toxic Chinese drywall after Hurricane Katrina is a lie–they started using it as early as 2001, we are certain the toxic Chinese drywall disaster is coast to coast, not just in the US Southeast. Again we ask, why no Justice Department, why no EPA, why not one word in public from President Obama about toxic Chinese drywall since taking office?” http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter.Com
The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, “is the national press aware of the fact that over a year ago a delegation of Washington DC bureaucrats went to China to inspect some of the mines, where the toxic Chinese gypsum originated–they were surrounded by Chinese officials, no inspection ever took place–no US national news coverage?” The group says, “had the average US citizen heard about Chinese goon squads preventing US investigators from doing their jobs on NBC. CBS, ABC, Fox, or CNN, there would have been national firestorm about toxic Chinese imports, but the story never was reported? Why is the national press so afraid of telling this story?” On October 26th the head of the pitiful US Consumer Products Safety Commission said the following, “contaminated Chinese drywall was a complicated issue and that she was hopeful that the Chinese government will use its influence with state-owned companies to help us reach a fair outcome for everyone involved.” The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, “Huh? 100,000′s of innocent US homeowners are suffering in home with imported toxic Chinese drywall, and the US Consumer Products Safety Commission has yet to recall one sheet of toxic Chinese drywall, after almost two years of knowing about it–and this is not an election issue?” They say, “do US taxpayers deserve better from their government, from their President, from their Secretary of State? President Obama’s mishandling of this toxic Chinese drywall disaster would be laughable–but kids potentially dying prematurely because they live/lived in a toxic Chinese drywall house is not very funny, nor is an agenda driven US President who appears to be both blind, and deaf.” http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter.Com
The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, “the most important thing for us right now is to get all Knauf Tianjin toxic Chinese drywall identified in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the Houston and Austin metro areas of Texas. Time is running out and we need to get you identified now. For a very simple self inspection guide, please visit our web site.” They say, “secondly, if you live in Florida or Texas, and your home builder has written you a letter about fixing your home, please call us before you do anything. If you have Knauf Tianjin, we think you will be much better off with the Knauf Tianjin settlement via the federal court in New Orleans than a cheap builder fix and we will make it as seamless as possible for you.” Finally the group says, “we care about these innocent people, these kids, these ruined lives–we are not going to back down on demanding a federal investigation of US homebuilder involvement in toxic Chinese drywall, we are not going to back down on demanding the US EPA supervise all homebuilder repairs, and we are not going to back down on banks reselling toxic Chinese drywall foreclosures in Florida or any US state without full disclosure.” Homeowners stuck in a toxic Chinese drywall house are welcome to call the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter.Com

Alliance for Hiring Reform Launches Portal for Federal Hiring Education
Alliance for Hiring Reform Launches Portal for Federal Hiring Education
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 22, 2010
The newly formed Alliance for Hiring Reform (AHR) launched today the HiringReform.org web portal to provide free access to articles concerning federal hiring, research reports, educational webcasts and events, and tools like an ROI calculator to help estimate the dollar value of a quality hire.
AHR, comprised of PDRI, a PreVisor Company, Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO), and Aon Hewitt, partnered with the Center for Human Capital Innovation (CHCI) to build the portal in response to President Obama’s memorandum of 11 May 2010 that directed the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), federal agencies, and hiring managers to improve the efficiency of hiring and quality of hires.
“Our aim is to provide valuable information to agencies seeking to comply with the President’s mandate to reform federal hiring practices to achieve quality talent acquisition,” said Dr. Elaine Pulakos, spokesperson for AHR.
While the Federal Government is the largest employer in the U.S., its hiring systems have long been criticized as burdensome and ineffective. Applicants have had to submit lengthy essays describing their past job experience, which were not only time-consuming to complete and evaluate, but usually did not provide accurate information on which to base hiring decisions. The President’s directive requires agencies to make significant changes to streamline and improve the current hiring process – including assessing applicants using valid, reliable tools – by this November 1st.
Given the direct connection between good hiring decisions, a first-class civil service and a high performing government, the Partnership for Public Service took an in-depth look at how agencies are assessing candidates for federal jobs today, the barriers to hiring the best candidates and how the process can be improved.
The study, released 26 August 2010, found that applicant assessment is the weakest link in the government’s problematic hiring chain, with top candidates frequently getting lost in meaningless evaluation. The report findings were part of a panel discussion about how agencies can overcome barriers to improve federal applicant assessment.
Taking the lead in the hiring reform efforts, OPM will begin a pilot program using a new set of tools for assessing the skills and qualifications of job applicants. Angela Bailey, OPM’s deputy associate director for recruitment and diversity, announced in September that several agencies, including the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments, will start the six-month pilot between October and December. By next summer, OPM anticipates other agencies will begin using the assessments. PDRI helped OPM develop the assessments.
OPM’s pilot assessments, covering 12 jobs in which most vacancies are expected, are the single most important step that will improve quality of hires. To improve the efficiency and speed of hiring, OPM is also piloting a fully automated, web-based assessment administration platform.
With the launch of Hiringreform.org this week, agencies can stay abreast of OPM’s pilot program progress and all the latest developments regarding hiring reform in the Federal Government.

AHR’s founding members, the premier thought leading organizations in the fields of human capital management and assessment, include PDRI, Aon Hewitt and HumRRO.

Nannies In Kansas City – Search, Screen & Hire A Kansas Nanny!
Nannies In Kansas City – Search, Screen & Hire A Kansas Nanny!
Wondering about utilizing the web for looking for and finding nannies in Kansas City? Becoming aware of suitable candidates through the help of nanny organizations on the web can make it much easier to go through the nanny seeking and screening process. A program designed to locate professional nannies is a useful function of many web-based nanny sites which can find you a potential childcare specialist compatible with your specific needs. When seeking suitable jobs, the simplest way for nannies to locate an appropriate family is to become a member of an online family – nanny coordinating firm.
A large number of families on the lookout for nannies in Kansas City do not always know about the great advantages of using a high standard online nanny placement service. When starting to look for someone to mind their children, parents usually tend to think that the truly excellent nannies have all been snapped up! Many times this is untrue. A program which exists to locate nannies all across the country can be a very useful and reliable way of finding an independent nanny in your neighborhood. In most of the websites that offer access to a large quantity of nannies’ profiles, you will be given the opportunity for a free care provider search to be able to view the nannies’ profiles.
Childcare specialists are usually situated between age 18 and age 50, and many have studied at the university level in early childhood development. Many among them will have already had job experience in looking after infants and very young children and some will be just starting out. But in most cases they choose to work in this field because they love their job – particularly the interaction with the children. When you’re at the screening stage, be sure to look not only at their previous job experience, but additionally, their personality and general bearing.
A reputable nanny agency will be willing to aid you in perhaps the most crucial part of employing a nanny – the investigation of a nanny’s past. Looking into a childcare provider’s background is a necessity if you wish to make sure you are not entrusting your children to someone with a troubled past. Be confident that this can be conducted online. To be certain of the validity of the facts, you need to remember to explain to the candidates that you need references from past employers.
When you’re starting to look for nannies in Kansas City always remember that when you decide to employ a caregiver there are a number of crucial issues which must be addressed, such as – the interview process, the salary the nanny is to be paid, as well as his or her contract, and creating a complete description of the nanny’s duties so that no disagreements arise down the road.

Global Survey Shows Smartphones Have Tipped into Majority for Business Professional Use
Global Survey Shows Smartphones Have Tipped into Majority for Business Professional Use
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) October 20, 2010
Toolbox.com, the operator of online communities for professional knowledge sharing, and PJA Advertising + Marketing, three-time BtoB Agency of the Year winner, today announced additional insights from Wave VI in the Social Media Index survey series.
A top finding: although smartphone usage is not predicted to overtake standard mobile phones until 2012*, 55% of IT, HR and finance professionals surveyed already use a smartphone, nearly three times the percentage than the overall population.
The August survey of nearly 3,000 global IT, HR and finance professionals found also that survey respondents are much more interested in vendors providing smartphone applications and features that help them do their jobs better rather than traditional mobile advertising. This finding mirrors an earlier Toolbox.com/PJA survey about the appropriate role of vendors in online networks.
“This survey provides clear evidence that smartphones are helping to further blur the line between personal and professional,” said Mike O’Toole, president of PJA Advertising + Marketing. “Nearly a third of respondents said the greatest benefit of mobile devices is the ability to respond to work issues in real time, wherever they are. Since two-thirds receive their mobile devices from their employers, that’s not so surprising.”
“Professionals are moving towards an always-on status with their mobile devices, utilizing them not only for traditional phone features and e-mail, but now as a primary gateway to engage with communities and social networks,” said George Krautzel, co-founder and president of Toolbox.com. “We also found it interesting that professionals are looking for larger screens and faster performance in their devices, which speaks to a natural upgrade path from smartphones to tablet PCs with phone-like features.”
Highlights of the survey include the following points:
The top 3 benefits of mobile devices are the ability to respond to work issues in real time (30.6%), connectivity to e-mail (24.1%), and the ability to work at home (14.6%).
Less than 30% of respondents felt that advertisers understand their use of mobile devices for professional purposes “well” or “very well.”
Respondents use their mobile devices 2.35 hours a week to consume user-generated content, 1.81 hours for editorial content, and 1.68 hours for vendor content.
Top wish-list features for users’ next mobile device include larger screen (25.5%), faster performance (17.3%), and longer battery life (15.1%).
Nearly 3,000 members of the IT, HR, and finance communities at Toolbox.com participated in Wave VI, conducted in August 2010. View the complete survey results. Results will be discussed in depth during the October 28 broadcast of PJA Radio at 3PM ET.

Report Shows Internal Auditors Can Do More – Report on the Strategic Role of Internal Audit Released by Vonya Global
Report Shows Internal Auditors Can Do More – Report on the Strategic Role of Internal Audit Released by Vonya Global
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 20, 2010
Vonya Global announced today that the Final Report on the Strategic Role of Internal Audit has been released. In compiling information for the study, Vonya Global surveyed a cross-section of Executives and Internal Auditors from both public and private organizations in a variety of industries to evaluate their opinions regarding the strategic role of Internal Audit. The study set out to determine whether it is Internal Audit’s role to evaluate strategic risks and if Internal Audit is equipped to do so effectively. The primary goal was to provide a benchmark for Internal Auditors and Executives on the strategic role of Internal Audit. The report can be downloaded from the Vonya Global website.
The 2010 study is a follow up to a similar study conducted in 2008 and was designed to compare opinions in 4 areas:
1. Vision, Goals, and Objectives of Internal Audit
2. Mission and Value Relative to Strategic Risks
3. Process, Skills, Time, and Budget
4. Compliance Requirements
In 2008 it was revealed that a gap exists between Executive Management and Internal Auditors on the function of Internal Audit. The 2010 study set out to explore whether this gap still exists or if it has been closed. In addition, the new study provides a more detailed comparison between Executive Management and Internal Auditors.
“We believe Internal Auditors can play a more strategic role; whether they can at their organization is up to the Audit Committee, Executive Management, and the Internal Audit Department. The information from this report provides a starting point for a conversation between the three groups.” Stated by Steven Randall, Vonya Global Partner
While the 2010 Report on the Strategic Role of Internal Audit reveals that many gaps still exist between Executives and Internal Auditors, there are encouraging findings as well. One assumption going into the study was that Internal Audit plays a critical role in a company’s ability to meet its strategic objectives and there appears to be general agreement between Executives and Internal Auditors in many categories. The report provides details and quotes from the participants, such as:
“We make understanding the strategic direction and goals a priority in our risk assessment process so that we can link our audit plan to the strategies and goals of the company.”
“Internal Audit is at the table for senior management discussions, for input on operational challenges and control risks, for the implementation of new systems and replacement of outdated processes, and for risk management.”
“The only risks that management should fear are the ones that they do not know about – it is Audit’s job to provide that information.”
The full report can be downloaded by following the link on the Vonya Global home page: http://www.vonyaglobal.com or by contacting the company.
